Tips for recruitment agencies
1) Be open to change
Maybe you want to stick to what you know. For years you’ve been using the same recruitment software and it works. Why change?
As time and technology moves on, new ways of operating agencies arise and “sticking to what you know” may mean you miss new solutions that offer more benefits. New software should improve your workflow and keep you relevant in the market; therefore, change may be necessary within your agency to achieve this.
2) Invest in a good system
With software, you get what you pay for. Therefore, if you’re looking for a solution to run your entire business, spending a bit extra will benefit you going forward.
However, make sure to do your research, as buying recruitment software is like buying a car. It can look pretty on the outside, but it’s what’s under the bonnet that really matters. So, ask the right questions to make sure your money is well spent. You could ask:
Who developed it? (Ensure it is built to a good standard)
How do you maintain performance? (You don’t want to have to wait for things to load)
What’s your support like and is it UK based? (You want to speak to someone
there and then and get your issues fixed ASAP)
3) Focus on the future
Chances are you’re going to grow. So, make sure to look for recruitment software that can cope with your business’ growth and will continue to help you in your journey. Whether you deal with 10 or 100,000 temporary workers.
Additionally, make sure your provider is also moving forward and is not going to be out-dated within a few years. Maybe ask about their future development plans. Why? Because you want your provider to continue to develop new functionality that will improve your agency in the future.
4) Shop around
It’s understandable to look at the big brands, they’re big for a reason. However, this does not mean that they’re right for you. Going with recruitment software because you’ve heard of them can be dangerous. Make sure to do lots of research to find the best possible solution for your unique agency. There may be something better out there that you’ve not heard of yet.
5) Don’t expect a perfect fit
The nature of the temporary recruitment industry means that temp agencies all have unique ways of recruiting. This means there is no “one size fits all” solution. Therefore, look for a software provider that is willing to work with you in solving issues and is not going to leave you in the mud.
